My grandson Freddie Johnson asked if I would help him raise money for his school. After chatting with Gerry we decided to make it the charity we would support for 2018.
All funds raised at Gerry Doverman Ltd will go directly to help the children, thank you.
Our school takes great pride in our aim to be filled with happy, healthy children, learning through fun!
Blackmarston is a state funded, coeducational special school for children between the age of 2 and 11 years. The school caters exclusively for children who have special educational needs (SEN), including:
– Complex learning difficulty and disabilities (CLDD)
– Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
– Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD)
– Multiple sensory impairment (MSI)
We also recognise that some of our pupils have additional special needs and/or disabilities or complex medical needs that demand very specific provision within our setting.
The school was originally opened in September 1974 and was relocated to this accommodation and opened by H.R.H. Princess Anne in April 1997. During 2012/13 the school underwent a major refurbishment and extension and is now twice the size and includes 3 amazing sensory rooms as well as 11 classrooms all with their own quiet rooms.
Great emphasis is placed on encouraging an excellent relationship between home and school so that all families and staff can work together for the greater benefit of the child.
